POSITION DESCRIPTION: Duties & Responsibilities: Provide extensive hands-on data management of surface seismic, borehole seismic, gravity-magnetics and other geophysical data. Utilize data management best-practices and solid expertise in geophysics to manage seismic data in the corporate Oracle database as well as in the Geoframe/IESX and Openworks/Seisworks environments. Proactively analyze and enhance data quality of seismic data including all pre-stack and post-stack data. Collaborate with geophysical operations and other geophysical data producers to facilitate and coordinate complete, accurate and timely data management solutions for seismic data including pre-stack and post-stack data, VSP, near surface and statics data, time-to-depth conversion, velocity, depthing and other geophysical data. Use applications, including SQL and scripting as necessary, to manage, load and retrieve seismic data from the Oracle databases and other project databases. Provide seismic data support for explorationists in the Exploration and Development departments. Provide consulting, training, and mentoring to junior seismic data management professionals. Keep abreast of geophysical technologies, and assist documentation of seismic data management requirements to take advantage of new techniques and innovations.
SELECTION CRITERIA: The candidate should have: 5 years oil industry experience including recent experience in seismic data management. Proven skills in data management of seismic data is a must. Solid knowledge of pre-stack and post-stack data, near surface and statics, time-to-depth conversion, velocity analysis and depthing is required. Ability to resolve and enhance data quality of seismic data is required. Experience in LINUX environment is a must. UNIX experience is a plus. Knowledge of SQL and scripting is required. Excellent command of English and communication skills; written, verbal, and presentation skills are required, with a suitable personality to deal harmoniously with others. Normally expected to have twelve years of professional experience, at least five years of which should be as a geophysicist. Bachelor 's degree required in Geophysics or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
